About Me
I’m Karen Perez, founder of Roadmap Advising. I’m a longtime educator, college counselor, and school administrator with over 20 years of experience supporting students and families through high school planning and postsecondary transitions.
Throughout my career as a teacher, counselor, and administrator, I’ve helped students gain admission to a wide range of postsecondary options—from highly selective universities like Stanford and MIT to local community colleges, trade schools, UC and CSU campuses, and public and private colleges across the country. I have worked closely with students navigating many different paths, including those managing academic challenges, rebuilding GPAs, or navigating IEPs and 504 plans.
I understand how overwhelming this process can feel, especially for students, and how important it is to have clear, honest guidance early on. My approach is practical, personalized, and grounded in helping families understand realistic options, reduce stress, and create plans that align with each student’s strengths, needs, and goals. I believe there is no single “right” path—only the path that fits the student best.
